THE RATS AND THE

AN UPCOMING INTERVIEW
WITH MIKE McLEAN |
|
|
| September 10, 1963 was my first day at Motown. I had the
opportunity to work for a boss that could only be described as far out. A
fun loving electronic genius that made every day a new experience. Thirty seven
years later, Mike is working for Warner Bros. Animation, still an electronics genius and
still colorful as ever. |
| In relating old Motown Sound trivia, Mike has one up on me, having
started at Motown almost three years before me. I was very happy to be able to sit down
with Mike and capture a couple of real early stories about Motown. The interview
couldn't make this issue, so we have scheduled the first bit of trivia for next
issue. |
| The story we have chosen relates to a comment that Berry Gordy Jr. made
during the Motown 25th Anniversary TV broadcast, which was something to the effect that
Motown was built on "Rats, Roaches and Love." Mike has the story behind
this comment and I am sure you will find it very entertaining. |
| So, stay tuned! |
